About Psychotherapy

There is no right way, there is only your way

Psychotherapy is a professional relationship between two people. Sessions take place once a week and each session lasts for fifty minutes. However, some people may choose to have two or more sessions per week.
Psychotherapy provides a safe, confidential environment for you to explore your feelings about your life, your actions and your reactions. You may begin to see underlying patterns emerging, and it can take time to look in depth at these patterns and see how they affect your current relationships. Because of this Psychotherapy can last for a number of years, it can however also be very helpful for shorter term work and very specific issues.

The Humanistic and Integrative approach

Humanistic Psychotherapy is also known as Person Centred Psychotherapy. That means that it is centred around you. We talk about the issues that are important to you, and we try to stay with your here and now feelings about the issues being discussed. It does not involve the Therapist making clever interpretations about you and your life. Nor does it involve the Therapist telling you what to do, giving you advice or judging your actions or reactions.
Integrative Psychotherapy aims to integrate other schools of Psychotherapy that may be helpful to your particular needs.

The Aim
Many situations in life can leave us feeling powerless and choiceless.
Psychotherapy aims to empower you, to give you back choice in your life and the confidence to use that choice.
